UK Inflation Spirals Out of Control-Food Prices Hit 18-Month High

What did I tell you? Governments don’t listen. I’m just one voice, but I’ve said it for years: inflation is a major problem in the UK — and worldwide.

Today, the inflation rate hit 4.2% this month (August). According to the British Retail Consortium, prices have risen at their fastest pace for 18 months, with food inflation alone hitting 4.2%. Food inflation is the big one — we all have to eat. Eggs, butter, cheese, bread — all have gone up.

The Bank of England has a requirement to keep inflation at 2% or less. It hasn’t been there for years and won’t be any time soon, because they keep reducing interest rates, fueling inflation. If you’ve got a mortgage, interest rates will rise — they have no choice.

Farmers in Crisis

This summer has been devastating — June, July, and August have been dry, and farmers are in deep trouble. Worldwide — in the UK, Canada, Australia, the US — farmers are struggling. Shelves look full, but it’s farmers who provide it all. And they’re drowning in debt.

In the UK, drought is hurting summer crops, fueling inflation and likely forcing more imports. That shouldn’t happen in a country never more than 75 miles from the sea. With all our rainfall, we should have the best reservoirs.

But water companies are bankrupt, polluting rivers and seas with raw sewage. A national disgrace.

Broken Politics and Rising Anger

Meanwhile, Labour is in power and clueless about economics. Rachel Reeves, now on her third home, lectures the poor while ordinary taxpayers foot the bill. Pensioners and ordinary citizens are ignored.

Councils threaten people with court for late rates, while illegal migrants are funded freely from our taxes.

Is it any wonder people are angry? They wave the Union Jack and the Cross of St. George proudly — and rightly so.

Leadership Vacuum

This government has no control. Ministers lack gravitas, and the Prime Minister avoids press conferences. Contrast that with Donald Trump, who, whatever his faults, always faced the press.

Foreign Minister David Lammy? Off dining overseas. Leadership here is absent.

Covid Vaccines and Doubts

Reports suggest Trump may ban Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. I stopped mine after seven or eight doses, after discussions with my family. Too little time went into testing, and side effects remain a concern. Should they be banned until further investigation? It’s a fair question.

Final Thoughts

Inflation is spiraling. The Bank of England is “useless as tits on a bull.” Defence spending is wasted. Billions blown in the Ministry of Defence.

This government doesn’t know what it’s doing. On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, the conclusion is clear: we live in a broken system.

And yet, amid the chaos, at least there are small escapes — like watching historical dramas on BBC iPlayer.

ut make no mistake: inflation is out of control, and the UK is in crisis.
